On December 5th, 2024, the China Sri Lanka Joint Center for Education and Research (CSL CER) at the University of Ruhuna proudly hosted His Excellency Qi Zhenhong, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Sri Lanka. His Excellency was accompanied by a distinguished delegation, including Ms. Ji Lili, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, to present the prestigious Chinese Ambassador's Scholarships to 53 academically outstanding students of the University of Ruhuna.
Since its establishment in 2018, the Chinese Ambassador's Scholarship Program has stood as a symbol of the strong and enduring partnership between China and Sri Lanka. The program provides vital financial assistance to academically deserving students, reinforcing a shared commitment to education and cross-cultural collaboration.
This year's award ceremony took place at the CSL CER Conference Room, drawing over 100 participants, including:
- Snr. Prof. R.M.U.S.K. Rathnayaka - Competent Authority, University of Ruhuna
- Prof. Changsheng Zhang - Director, CSL CER
- Snr. Prof. Disna Ratnasekera - Co-Director, CSL CER
- Scholarship recipients, Deans of Faculties, and Esteemed Guests
During his keynote address, Ambassador Qi Zhenhong highlighted the vital role of educational exchange in building bridges between nations. He encouraged the scholarship awardees to pursue academic excellence, dream boldly, and contribute meaningfully to their country's development and to the flourishing friendship between China and Sri Lanka.
