The University of Ruhuna is set to formalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD), Ministry of Defence, Sri Lanka, establishing a framework for collaborative research, technical consultancy, and specialised training in areas of mutual interest.
This partnership will enable the University’s faculties to engage in joint research projects, technical training, and consultancy initiatives with the CDRD, while streamlining processes for obtaining necessary approvals from the Ministry of Defence. For the China-Sri Lanka Joint Center for Education and Research (CSL CER), the MoU is particularly significant as it will facilitate smoother approvals for coastal and marine research projects, helping advance scientific initiatives efficiently and without administrative delays.
The agreement underscores the commitment of both institutions to knowledge exchange, capacity building, and structured collaboration, paving the way for innovative research and development opportunities in Sri Lanka.
