CSL CER Successfully Conducted Workshop on Machine Intelligence for Multivariate Data Analysis
The China-Sri Lanka Joint Center for Education and Research (CSL CER) successfully conducted the third workshop in its Workshop Series “Machine Intelligence for Multivariate Data Analysis”, on 8th August 2026 at the China-Sri Lanka Joint Center for Education and Research, University of Ruhuna.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Ishan C. Silva , Researcher at the China-Sri Lanka Joint Center for Education and Research, University of Ruhuna. The session provided participants with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques to multivariate data analysis.
The workshop covered several key areas, including:
- Introduction to Machine Intelligence and Big Data
- Machine Learning tools for data analysis
- Dimensionality reduction techniques, including MDS, PCA, and t-SNE
- Cluster analysis using Dendrograms, K-means, and DBSCAN
- Classification and regression using CART and Random Forest
- Beginner-friendly hands-on coding exercises using Python and R
The workshop was designed particularly to introduce participants with little or no prior experience in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to practical approaches for analysing complex multivariate datasets. The hands-on activities provided participants with opportunities to apply the concepts introduced during the session using Python and R.
The workshop brought together undergraduate students, postgraduate students, and researchers interested in applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques to data analysis. The programme was highly interactive, and participants actively engaged in the practical exercises throughout the session.
CSL CER extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Ishan C. Silva for his valuable contribution as the resource person and to all participants for their active engagement and enthusiasm, which contributed greatly to the success of the workshop.
Stay connected with CSL CER for more upcoming workshops and initiatives in Artificial Intelligence and research innovation.
